Teknologien er baseret p\u00e5, at en tynd kulstofbaseret (og dermed organisk) halvledende plastfilm lamineres mellem to elektroder. N\u00e5r elektroderne er aktiveret, udsender halvlederpladen lys. Du kan f\u00e5 forskellige farver af lyset ved at v\u00e6lge den rigtige plastik. De organiske plader er ogs\u00e5 fleksible og det ville s\u00e5 v\u00e6re muligt at fremstille f.eks. b\u00f8jelige l\u00e6setablets \u2013 eller hvorfor ikke selvlysende tapet.<\/p>\n<p>En bekymring for OLED-producenter er dog, at levetiden er begr\u00e6nset af korrosion p\u00e5 grund af fugt og kemikalier. Organiske materialer har ofte d\u00e5rlig modstandsdygtighed over for fugt og kemikalier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ved hj\u00e6lp af specielt silikonemateriale kan de organiske dioder indkapsles, s\u00e5 modstanden er fremragende. Tribotec har flere varianter af pottemateriale til OLED.
